how Circle Farm Tours became whimsical
Circle Farm Tours is a road map that directs visitors to a variety of specialty farm-gate vendors, open air markets, heritage homes, and charming eateries. Their current web site was dry and difficult to navigate. As a result, their online presence was not strong enough.
The objective was to design an attractive, and easier to navigate web site, which also promoted local businesses and target families with small kids. We revised the old site map, reduced the navigation buttons at the top, and divided the information per farm on the right. We recommended the use of a more colloquial language throughout the site. On the right, we set a column to highlight the current events.
To target the website to small kids, we added some illustrations and a funky typeface. To improve the navigation we assigned a color for each farm, so that visitors could visually identify where they were at any time. To promote events and local business, we introduced a user-friendly calendar and photo galleries. This web site is easy to maintain as it is connected to a web content management system.
